Join us in celebrating the 2014 harvest — Bluxome’s 5th vintage & the 157th anniversary of San Francisco’s first crush — for an evening of little-known stories and local lore brought to you by Schein and Schein Maps, Gundlach Bundschu, and the SF Historical Society. Listen as resident history experts Jimmie Schein and Gundlach Bundschu's Susan Sueiro take you through San Francisco’s wild past, from earthquakes to vigilance committees and all the winemaking in between. Wander through an ongoing rare map exhibit that chronicles that story on the winery’s walls, and enjoy a glass while watching our 2014 Pinots being produced on the winery floor. Then we'll get down to the business of friendly competition over serious prizes, as you test your knowledge of the City’s rowdy backstory during a trivia session hosted by Justin Jones and Derek Remski of the SF Historical Society’s FlipSide.

Join the makers behind Dandelion Chocolate and Bluxome Street Winery to explore their production processes through pairings. Inside Bluxome’s working winery, we’ll taste our way through cacao’s journey from bean to bar and the grape’s progression to bottle, discussing the similarities between single-origin chocolate production and vineyard-designate winemaking. Experimentation is encouraged as we explore how different flavors work with each other through 6 courses of wine and chocolate, including pulp from the cocoa nut, raw chocolate from the melanger, and later-harvest Sauvignon Blanc from the barrel. During this special harvest season event we will be able to tour the winery in production mode, and taste SF’s favorite wine in different stages of development alongside Dandelion’s mouthwatering chocolate.
